1962 Molnia

All,

Volga-Hydrofoil.net was contacted by a company in the Netherlands that thought to have a Volga. They do business in Russia, and acquired the boat 13 years ago, though never had the time to rerstore the boat. They sent us some pictures, and I noticed that the wings were different from those of any of the Volga's that I have seen before. I have read that the Molnia, the precursor to the Volga, had a different wing-configuration. I have never actually seen any pictures of a Molnia before, but my guess is that this is the genuine article. According to the ID plate (see picture), this boat was made in 1962 in Batumi, Georgia, and was boat number 56, but the rest of the text on that plate is a bit too vague to be able to read.

Does anyone have more information about this unique boat or replica watches?

The aft-foil is straight (a bit like that of another early hydrofoil, the Raketa), where the Volga's have a light "W"-shape

Notice how the bow foil is inverted, and how there is a "side-wing" attached that is more commonly seen at the stern foil.
