Dear Janovic,

Thanks for message: I am just repairing my GAZ and I think I have most spares already bought.
For your request I advise to use the same propeller revolution and change only engine & Gearbox accordingly.

Providing you have still the original propeller and propeller shaft, you should use a modern diesel or gasoline
engine in combination with a ZF 63 IV gearbox and you should match the reduction ratio of the gearbox
in such way that you end up with the same propeller rpm like the original design. In the Forum you can
see under ''Repair of 6 Volgas'' the suitable gearbox and their reduction ratios available. Please not forget
that you have to marinize your engine with watercooling and exhaust cooling etc...

Please contact me if you have any furter questions.

best regards

Dear Ed,

Thank you for your e-mail. One of my major concerns were, that this site was always in english and not in other languages. For me or some others it does not matter. There are so many chaps out there, that might have good comments, but just hesitate as they think they are not good enough in English to join a statement. This is a pitty and I SAY LOUDLY TO THOSE: Write in your own Language! Russian, Dutch, Deutsch, Francaise, Türkçe, Africaans, H'rvatska, Espanol or 3rd class broken cockney English .... who cares? we all share our same hobby and nothing needs to be in a distinct language ...

This is an international site of Volga adicts and there are several internet translation programs.

Never mind the Bollocks
Georg

I broadcast your message as is ... Sorry, if this is a problem for you.

Subject: Volvo B30

Hallo Georg,

Ich war gerade dabei wieder auf die Webseiten zu lesen als ich darauf kam was du über die bis jetzt bekannten Volga Motorentypen geschrieben hast.

• 6-cyl GAZ engine + reverse reducer + V-drive (as your '65)
• 8-cyl GAZ engine + hydro reducer + V-drive (as your '8x)
• 8-cyl Volvo engine + Z-drive (export version)
Als ich damals über mein Volga geschrieben habe hatte ich schon erwähnt das ich einen Volvo B30 hatte
Ich fand bei Wikipedia folgendes
Volvo B30 engine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This B30 was a straight-6 automobile engine produced by Volvo Cars starting in 1969, and used in the company's 164 sedan from 1969 through 1975. It was also used in the Volvo C303 military vehicle. Other uses included marine, industrial and agricultural applications. It was a robust pushrod engine using timing gears and displaced 3.0 L (2978 cc/181 in³). Basically it's a B20 with two added cylinders. Output ranged from 130 hp (97 kW) with the B30A equipped with two Zenith-Stromberg 175CD2SE sidedraught CD carburetors to 160 hp (119 kW) (SAE net) from the higher-compression B30E equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection. The engine offered smooth running and high levels of torque at low engine speeds.

Here you can see a restored Volga 70 boat engine:

The engine here is being indicated as a GAZ-13. It looks similar to my GAZ 53L. Nice sound!
